Overall, I really like the Premium Squeeze Page Templates pack. All of the templates have a nice, high-quality look to them and the range of different styles and colors as well as the bonus graphics are excellent.

If you are looking to build your list through several channels (i.e. more than just one squeeze page and one product), then I highly recommend you take a look at this product. If you won’t be running several campaigns, then the package is a bit overkill, however the price is hard to argue with. Even just one custom designed template will cost you about the same or even more than this entire package.

The plugin does what it says on the box: It syndicates your posts, creating backlinks automatically. It does take a little time to set it up with all of the different accounts, but once that’s done, it really is a one-click solution. Bottom line: It’s probably the easiest way I’ve ever seen, for buidling a handful of backlinks and giving a small “SEO boost” to each one of your posts.

1 In a Million Ecovers is a collection of Photoshop action scripts that help you create all sorts of e-cover graphics for spicing up your landing pages and making product offers more enticing.  In today’s article, I’ve added two videos: The first one shows off how the action scripts work and the second one is about what kind of an effect adding a cover image has on conversion rates.

Conclusion

As I stated in the second video, for me there’s no question about using 1 In a Million Ecovers. It allows me to create several versions of a cover graphic very quickly, that I can then use for some split-testing and website optimization.

And particularly since my tests always showed an increase in conversions from using graphics (albeit sometimes only a small one), it’s something I definitely want to include wherever possible.

SEOLinkVine is a recently launched, new article network run by Brad Callen. I have been testing this network since shortly before the official launch and by now, I have gathered enough data and gotten a good enough impression of the system for an initial review.

I am not going to go into great detail about what an article network is, if you want to know more about the basics of that, please check my blog networks post.

Alright, now let’s find out whether SEOLinkVine is worth it or not…

Overview

SEOLinkVine is an article network where you can submit articles including your keyword targeted backlinks to many blogs in the network. All of your articles get posted to blogs relevant to your niche and since you can choose the anchor text of the links, that should ensure that all the links you get from the system are high-quality and valuable.

Features

First, let’s cover the two most basic features for any blog network: Submitting and receiving articles.

Submitting Articles

SEOLinkVine has an editor very similar to the one you might be familiar with from a WordPress blog, where you can enter and edit your articles. Since the article will be submitted to blogs and not article directories, you can include links directly in the body text and you can even include pictures and embed video (although in my experience, the video usually remains unpublished).

You are encouraged to spin and rewrite your articles, to make sure that each published post is at least somewhat unique. There is a built in article spinning tool as well as a (useless) thesaurus that can make synonym suggestions for you.

Receiving Articles

Of course, you can also “plug in” your own blogs into the network and start receiving content from SEOLinkVine users. Depending on how you make use of it, getting a constant stream of fresh content can be very beneficial to your own sites – at least, if the content is any good.

In this regard, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the articles I’ve received from SEOLinkVine. Let me be realistic, here: The articles are never stellar (they are written for the links, not for Pulitzer prizes) and there are always a few bad apples in there. I have received some examples of articles that were spun to the point of illegibility. But most of the articles I’ve received were quite good.

What I really like about the “get articles” bit in SEOLV is that you can view and accept or reject articles directly from within SEOLinkVine. This means that you don’t have to log into each one of your sites to check the posts, you can conveniently do it all from one interface.

Stats

SEOLinkVine has some very interesting stats-checking features, as well. You can get an overview as well as a graphical representation of how many of your articles have been presented to site owners, how many have been accepted and rejected, how many have been published and how many are still pending.

Even more interestingly, it comes with a rank-tracking application. All you have to do is install a small program that runs in the background (Windows only, at the time of writing) and periodically checks your ranking. For this purpose it simply uses the links from your articles and check where the linked-to site ranks for the anchor-text keyword.

The program goes 500 results deep in Google and Yahoo and about 100 results deep in Bing.

As I’ve mentioned several times on this site, I believe that a good rank-tracking application is absolutely essential for SEO marketers. You have to have an easy way to track the progression of your pages in the SERP and see how your link-building is affecting them. The rank tracking tool in SEOLV is very simple and requires practically no user-input, but it’s still a solid tool that delivers clear information. Clear thumbs up from me, as this is truly an extra bonus that no one would even expect to get, bundled with a blog-network membership!

Is it Any Good?

Of course, the extra features and slick user interface are nice, but the most important question about any blog network is: Is it any good? Do my articles get published, does the system work, do I get a good amount of high-quality backlinks?

The answer is: Yes, it is good and it’s a solid system that works. There was a bit of a glitch during the first few days after launch, where they were apparently having trouble getting all the queued up articles published, however, even then I saw a steady stream of publishes and daily backlinks to all sites I  was promoting through SEOLinkVine.

Let’s look at some exact numbers:

Currently, I am averaging 55.8 publishes per article submitted. That’s pretty good, especially considering that the articles are all still being published to new blogs and the publishes per article have steadily been climbing. Also, some of the publishes are still in a “pending” status, meaning some site-owners have not taken a look at the articles yet, to decide whether to approve or reject them. If my approval-rate stays constant, this will result in about 60 publishes per article over the course of a few weeks. Not too bad.

Does it work for getting your sites ranked? Let me show you two examples, using the SEOLV rank tracker.

This first one is on a site that I’ve already done lots a fair amount of backlinking for, but the particular page I’m promoting has only been getting links from SEOLV, no other sources:

As you can see, there’s a distinct improvement in ranking, more or less from day one of using the system. (Update: The above page has now reached position number 3 in the SERP).

Here’s another one, which is for a brand new site that, as of yet, has absolutely no on-page optimization for the targeted keyword:

We’re definitely looking at some heavy Google dancing, here, but the indications are good. The dance will probably go on for a while longer, but once I actually set up the target page with on-page SEO, I’m pretty sure I’ll stick to page one. (Update: This page is now in position number 6 and has stayed there for several weeks. I haven’t done any link-building beyond submitting two articles to SEOLV, for this site).

Quite honestly, I think this may very well be the best free offer I’ve ever seen in the Internet marketing space. Read on to get the details.

Overview

Tim and Steve, the guys who made Mining Money Online, are the guys behind all of the “Blueprint” products, most famously Commission Blueprint and Niche Blueprint. They have created a whole series of highly successful and high-priced products on the topic on Internet marketing and, running a ~10 Mio. Dollar a year business, they definitely know what they’re doing.

Newbie Guide

Mining Money Online is Tim and Steve’s “newbie guide” to making money online. This is the product where they really start from square one and explain each and every aspect of affiliate marketing.

The method taught basically consists of creating affiliate sites (for free) and driving free traffic to them. Nothing groundbreaking in itself, although there are some interesting twists to the method.

The product consist of a series of training videos as well as downloadable .PDF documents. You also get access to some of the “Blueprint”-tools. Those are tools to help you promote websites and get traffic that were made by Tim and Steve themselves.

Is it Any Good?

Of course, the important question is whether Mining Money Online is any good or not. Let me tell you: It is. The training is very well structured, the videos manage to explain everything in a lot of detail while still being short and to the point and the method taught is just a great way to get started with online marketing and learn the ropes, so to speak.

As I said, I’ll keep this review short. The product is good and you can simply go and take a look at it yourself, since it’s available for free.

Here’s one thing I really want to mention about this: in online marketing, there is no shortage of free stuff on offer. Especially beginners tend to get bombarded with free guides that reveal some “secret” or other. And it’s standard practice to claim that the guide is actually worth a certain amount of money, but “just today” you can get it for free!

Mining Money Online is not like that. Not even remotely.

This product was created to be sold for $297 and it did sell at that price. For quite a long time, actually. This is not a product made as a freebie with the $297 price tag being arbitrary an made up, to make it seem more valuable. This is an actual, high-quality product that you can now get free of charge.

Conclusion

Get it. Actually, if you’re an IM veteran and you’re already making a good income online, then you won’t get much out of this, so you might as well pass. However, for beginners and anyone struggling to “make it” online, I believe this is a really amazing, really valuable opportunity. So, to those I say: Get it.

Market Samurai

Market Samurai, made by Noble Samurai, is a very extensive research tool, that does way more than just find good keywords.  It was designed to be something of a “base camp” for all your online marketing efforts.

I know is that a lot of people love Market Samurai, but I have to say that I never really warmed up to it’s user interface. I’m not a big fan of how the keyword discovery component is separate from the keyword analyses part, but I realise that this is probably just due to my personal tastes.

Market Samurai’s greatest feature is without a doubt the SEO competition module. It manages to give you a lot of detailed, in-depth information about the competition strength of any given keyword, but also manages to give you an idea of whether you can rank for the keyword at a single glance.

Market Samurai is probably the greatest bargain among the three programs in this roundup, even though it’s not cheap. You can truly launch and maintain an online marketing career without requiring any further tools.

Keyword Blueprint

Keyword Blueprint is a product created by Tim Godfrey and Steve Clayton (the “Blueprint-Guys” who have made Commission Blueprint, Niche Blueprint and many others). There are actually two components to this program: On the one hand, there is a research module for SEO campaigns and on the other hand there is a research module and an offer evaluator for PPC campaigns.

Keyword Blueprint’s greatest strength is also it’s main weakness: It’s very minimalistic and straight forward. You can easily browse through tons of keywords and explore lots of options and you can see at a glance what the search volume is like and whether or not there are many AdWords ads displayed for any given search term.

You can then let the program evaluate the competition strength for you, and again, the results are at-a-glance, as they are represented with a simple icon.

The problem is that you don’t get any additional details. You don’t know exact numbers for backlinks and metrics for on-page optimization for the competing sites, for example.

In practice, I find that Keyword Blueprint is ideal for discovering new keywords, but I find myself going over to Keyword Elite to check the ones I find in more detail.

Keyword Elite 2.0

Keyword Elite is created by Bryxensoft, Brad Callen’s company. Like Market Samurai, it offers features that go beyond simple keyword research and many of them, like the one that finds you potential JV partners and opportunities for integration marketing, are pretty ingenious.

From a research perspective, the most useful component is the “Search Engine Dominator” which provides competition analysis in absolutely minute detail. The only metric missing is the number of backlinks pointing to the root domains of the top listed sites (KE2 only shows the number of links pointing to the actual page listed).

Keyword Elite 2.0 is also the only one of the three tools that can pull data from several different sources simultaneously, meaning that it can create absolutely vast lists of related keywords. You can also easily add modifiers and filters to those keyword lists, before carrying them over to one of the more advanced analysis modules.

Overall, Keyword Elite is currently my favourite keyword research program.

The Perfect Solution

Having tried all three research tools, I have to say that the perfect solution would be a combination of the three. I’d love to have a tool that allows me to explore keywords like Keyword Blueprint does, then gives me the in-depth analysis data that Keyword Elite offers, but displays it including the domain backlinks and in the style of the competition matrix in Market Samurai…

Owning and working with three different programs isn’t very practical, however, so here are my recommendations:

The overall best research tool is Keyword Elite 2.0.

If you want to do research and evaluation for PPC campaigns, get Keyword Blueprint (comes with Commission Blueprint and isn’t separately available, as far as I know).

If you are looking for an all-in-one tool that includes content and product research, but is slightly un-intuitive on the keyword research front, Market Samurai is a good choice.

Are the Themes Any Good?

In a word: yes.

In a few more words: the visual design of the Elegant Themes collection is, without a doubt, top tier.  All of the themes are really well designed, most of them look absolutely stunning and in terms of usability, page structure etc.  there’s nothing to complain about.

Apart from the eye-candy, I was also pleasantly surprised by what the themes have to offer “under the bonnet”.  Every theme comes with an easy to use and feature-rich options menu, accessible in the WordPress admin area.  The options let you easily modify and change several aspects of the theme’s appearance, switch between different colour schemes (if available), set up ad space and AdSense areas, tweak SEO settings and much more.

Another thing worth mentioning: I am very happy with the loading speeds of all the Elegant Themes I have tried so for. Even with animated galleries and lots of pictures (like you see here on RQR), the pages build up fairly quickly.

Are They Suitable for Money-Sites?

So, the themes may be good, but are they also suitable for sites geared completely towards monetizaton? I can only see one potential problem with using Elegant Themes for money-sites: they aren’t ugly.

As you may know, for certain types of sites, particularly if they are monetized with AdSense or banner ads, it’s beneficial to use an ugly theme.  Essentially, if your website is ugly, then the ads on it will be the most compelling thing to click on.  This definitely won’t happen with Elegant Themes.

Apart from that, some of the themes on offer are actually very interesting from a marketing prospective, because they can be used as a flexible CMS for websites that don’t actually look like blogs.  If you’re promoting affiliate products or your own products, then some of these themes are definitely worth taking a closer look at.

What it comes down to is that it simply depends on your market and how you intend to monetize a website.  What I can tell you is that even though I originally only signed up with Elegant Themes to get this one theme that you are now looking at on RichQuickReview, browsing through the ET gallery gave me some new ideas and I have since set up several websites using their themes.

The Marketing Lesson

Elegant Themes has a very interesting business model, which works like this: you sign up for a membership to get access to all of their themes, future updates and support.  There is no way to buy only one single theme but you can keep any themes you are using, even if you cancel your membership.

What’s special about this is that the membership costs only 20 bucks a year.

The question I asked myself when I saw this offer was: if I were this guy, would I offer (currently) 37 high end, premium themes plus support for only 20 bucks a year?

And this is in a market where, for example, the Thesis theme is selling like hot cakes, costing $87 for a single-site licence and competitor Woo Themes is selling smaller packages of themes starting at $70.  Not to mention that buying a single premium theme that has the kind of quality design and flexibility that elegant themes offers, will usually cost more than 20 bucks.

At first glance, it just doesn’t make sense for Elegant Themes to put such a low price tag on what they have to offer.

However, it seems to be working out just fine.  I don’t know any exact sales numbers but I can tell you that there are more than 22,000 members registered in the ET forums.  It’s safe to assume that not all of those are still active and paying members, but even if everyone were to quit before the second yearly payment, this amount of members still represents quite a tidy bit revenue.

What’s the lesson here?  Making a really, really good offer can pay off.

$20 is kind of a no-brainer and I was willing to pay that amount just to get hold of one of the themes.  The other themes on offer and the good support won me over and I don’t see a reason to cancel my membership.  If you can make an offer that gets around 20,000 people thinking along those lines, well, then you’re making a good living.

So, will this product teach you everything you need to know in order to run profitable banner ad campaigns? Read on to find out.

Overview

The major component in Banner Ad Blueprint is a series of almost 40 videos, split up into different “chapters”. The training videos take you through the entire course and the downloadable .pdf documents seem like more of an afterthought and can maybe be useful for reference. But the videos is where it’s really happening.

As the title says, BAB is about creating advertising banners and buying ad-space on websites or through third party services like Clicksor or Adbrite.

In other words, banners advertising affiliate offers, CPA offers or your own products, will be placed on various sites across the Internet and people will hopefully click through and make you some money.

Groan…

Before I get to the quality of the product itself, there’s something that needs to be mentioned: Banner Ad Blueprint comes with three (yes three) “one-time-only” upsells. Once you’ve paid the $77 for the actual product advertised on the sales page, you’ll then be offered a $47/month membership, a $197 exclusive product and another $197 exclusive product.

As always, I did not try any of the upsell-offers. I did notice that they were of the redundant/scammy kind, meaning that they promise to teach you how to make lots of money. Since the main product is supposed to show me how to make close to 100K a month, why would I need those?

While we’re at it, it’s also worth mentioning that the sales-page states that the regular price for BAB is $297, but “today”, you can get it for $77.
No timer, no count-down, not even a javascript that inserts tomorrow’s date. Come on, guys! Try harder!

Content and Quality

Ok, back to the product itself. The content-page is very well structured and the training material is split up into several chapters, each one building on the previous ones. Each of the chapters contains several videos that are often a combination between a screencast and one of the product creators speaking directly to the camera.

All in all, BAB makes the impression of a very well put together product. Unfortunately, this positive first impression doesn’t last. The problem I personally have with Banner Ad Blueprint can be summed up very simply:

It is too basic. Far too basic, in fact.

I don’t consider myself a banner advertising expert, but I encountered absolutely nothing in this course that I didn’t already know. In fact, some of the information is so basic, that it hardly qualifies as information at all.

Let me give you an example by referencing article marketing, something I believe most online marketers are very familiar with.

Imagine I sold a product called “Ultimate Article Marketing Blueprint”. The sales-page would inevitably show off the massive piles of cash this method generates and go on and on about how powerful the techniques are, etc. Now imagine that upon purchasing the course, you’d find lots of videos with me talking about different article networks, showing you how to create an account with Ezinearticles and Articlesbase, showing you how to insert a link in your resource box and talking about how important it is to have an attention-grabbing headline.
I’m sure you’d agree that all this is valid information about article marketing, but you’d be left wondering where the big secret is. Signing up with article directories, creating resource boxes and adding good titles are all things you could have figured out about article marketing in an afternoon or two. Why buy a course to learn that?

That’s the feeling I was left with after going through the material in Banner Ad Blueprint. It goes into great detail concerning things I can easily figure out myself and it lacks a clear and novel “method” that I can apply to my campaigns.

Ratings

Fluff-o-Meter

BAB gets a very fluffy rating on the Fluff-o-Meter. Not because the info material lacks detail, but because the information is simply not relevant enough. BAB simply does not go beyond the basics of banner advertising and there’s a distinct lack of “insider” tips.

Way too basic.

(I’m omitting the spam factor because at the time of writing, I’ve only been signed up for a few days.)

Scam-Scale

This product does come across as quite spammy. On the one hand, the three upsells are just too much and severely devalue the main product and on the other hand, the product simply doesn’t deliver on the sales-page’s promise.

Overall Rating

Just like I try not to be too positive about any product, I try not to be unfairly negative about any product either. In this case, though, there’s really not much I can say in favour of BAB. As mentioned above, the information is well structured and actually quite sound, but there’s no way info as basic as that could be worth a $77 price-tag. As much as I’d like to like BAB, I have to say: It’s rubbish.

This is for you, if:

• You have $77 (or $518) you desperately want to get rid of.

This is not for you, if:

• You’re looking for a good, comprehensive course on media buying and banner advertising.

In today’s review, I take a look at a new plugin called WP Split Test and as the name implies, this tool helps you set up and track split tests on your WordPress websites.

Overview

WP Split Test is a WordPress plugin which lets easily set up split-tests for posts and pages on a WordPress site. For more information on the point of all this, please check out my Split Testing Basics post.

Installation and Setup

WP Split Test installs like any other WordPress Plugin and I had no difficulties activating it. Once the plugin is activated, you’ll find a new options tab in your WordPress admin panel, from where you can set up your A/B-tests.

You can set up as many different campaigns as you like and for each campaign, you can create up to four different pages. The pages are created in a simple editor, just like the one used for creating normal WP post. If you prefer, you can compose your pages in an HTML editor and copy-paste them into the WP Split Test editor.

In other words, you have complete freedom in creating your pages. There are absolutely no restrictions imposed by the plugin. Whether you want to test small changes like different titles or different order-button colours or make completely different pages (video sales page vs. text sales page, for example), you can do it using WP Split Test.

Once you’ve created your pages, you simply grab a small code snippet and insert that into a new WordPress post. You don’t need to add anything else but that code snippet to the post. Once it’s published, the plugin will rotate the different pages for each visit to the post.

Tracking

Of course, just rotating page variations is only part of the equation for effective split-testing. You also need to be able to track conversion-rates so that you can determine which version of a page is the most profitable one. WP Split Test does click-tracking for your campaigns and interestingly, it tracks clicks within your page contents and also (separately) tracks clicks to your sidebar, navbar and footer contents. For your main page content, you can determine conversion rates simply by checking out the clicks you get to your affiliate link, order button or sign-up button.

Changes can be made on the fly, so if you see that one of your pages is a clear winner, you can give it more weight, deactivate all the other pages or make another minor change within seconds, from the plugin’s admin panel.

Overall Rating

WP Split Test is a very solid plugin. It couldn’t be easier to install and set up, it rotates pages very cleanly (I like the fact that the URL doesn’t change) and it has no negative impact on page loading times, as far as I can tell.
