Video Introduction: How to Make Money Online

Video Introduction: How to Make Money Online

How long have you been in the Internet marketing game? Can you remember what it was like when you first started out? For me, it wasn’t too long ago that I was completely oblivious to this whole “make money online” world. I already had experience with offline businesses and I even had two ecommerce/online shop sites, but I was totally clueless about everything that relates to Internet marketing as we know it. I didn’t know the first thing about search engines, I didn’t know about blogging or WordPress, I didn’t know how to create a website or even a simple web-page, I didn’t know about hosting and domains and affiliate programs or anything like that.

As I was thinking abou this, I decided to make a video containing as much useful and essential information about making money online as possible, aimed at a complete beginner (basically me, a year ago). I wanted to keep it short and to the point (attention spans are short, these days), so there could only be a very limited amount of information in the video. I had to cut it down to what I believe are the most important things a newbie needs to hear.

Here’s the result and I’d love to know what you think about it:

Blog Networks for Link-Building (RQR Basics)

Blog Networks for Link-Building (RQR Basics)

Search engine marketers are always on the lookout for ways to build backlinks to their sites. And not just any kind of backlink, either. As I have discussed in a previous post, not all backlinks are equal and ideally, the links pointing to your site should be coming from diverse sources, have a targeted anchor text and come from within site content (rather than from comments or sidebars).

In terms of these requirements, blog networks may just be the perfect link-building tool. In this article, I explain what blog networks are, how they work and what their benefits and drawbacks tend to be.

Split-testing, sometimes also called A/B testing, is the process of testing two or more variations of a webpage against each other in order to determine which one performs better. The goal of split testing is simply to find out how to structure your page so that you can get more clicks, more conversions, more sign-ups or whatever else may be the purpose of the site.

Read on for to learn how and what to test.

(Very) Basic Market Research

Market Research Image

Market research is usually concerned with the demographics of a market, the amount and kind of competition you can expect, evaluation of what type of content and delivery the target demographic responds to etc.

For this article, I want to take the market research down a notch and present you a very simple, very basic research “method” that you should be applying on a regular basis as an online marketer. Especially if you are new to this game.

Ad-Space to Affiliate Sales: Monetization on a Sliding Scale

Yes, that's right. Bags of money.

There are countless ways of making money online and I cannot cover them all in this post. However, in terms of monetizing a website, there are four very common methods: Renting out ad-space, using AdSense or similar contextual advertising, promoting CPA offers and promoting products as an affiliate.

These four methods are arranged neatly along a sliding scale and understanding them makes for a good foundation of knowledge about website monetization in general.

So, let’s go right ahead and examine these four methods.

The first video covers the very basics and the second video goes into a little more detail, showing you how to cloak the banner-links, how to make your own banners (in case none are provided) and how to add a banner to the sidebar.
