Mark Lyford shares his dramatic “rise-and-fall” story and tells us what he did to go from zero to generating about $5000 per month with his online business in a matter of just a few months. And as you’ll see, he’s not stopping anytime soon!

Check out the audio below and further down, I’ve listed and described all of the relevant links to sites we talk about during the interview. Enjoy!

–

Millionaire Challenge – This is Mark’s personal video blog where you can follow his progress and everything he’s up to with his online business.

Millionaire Mentor Coaching – This is the site he mentioned where you can listen in on Mark’s coaching calls. I think this offer is especially remarkable from the product creation perspective: Mark is simply taking something he’s doing anyway (coaching) and turning it into a product. Pretty clever.

Internet Marketing with Brad Gosse – Brad Gosse is Mark’s coach. I’m a subscriber to his blog and I definitely recommend you check it out, too.

Finally, Mark mentioned a very good research method. Go to Google and type:

site:warriorforum.com “how to”

You’ll get about 20’000 results from people asking how to do one thing or another in the Internet marketing niche. Now, I’m sure you can see how this same method can be applied to any forum in any niche and with different queries… Easy way to find out what people want. All you need to do after that is find or create a product filling that need and connect the people looking for it to the product.

Questions and comments are welcome, as always!

Cheers,

As you may already know, I personally like to use WordPress for building all kinds of marketing sites. From blog-style sites to squeeze-pages or sales-pages, with the right themes and plugins, WP can be the ideal platform for any kind of website.

In today’s review, I take a look at a new plugin called WP Split Test and as the name implies, this tool helps you set up and track split tests on your WordPress websites.

WP Split Test is a WordPress plugin which lets easily set up split-tests for posts and pages on a WordPress site. For more information on the point of all this, please check out my Split Testing Basics post.

–

Installation and Setup

WP Split Test installs like any other WordPress Plugin and I had no difficulties activating it. Once the plugin is activated, you’ll find a new options tab in your WordPress admin panel, from where you can set up your A/B-tests.

You can set up as many different campaigns as you like and for each campaign, you can create up to four different pages. The pages are created in a simple editor, just like the one used for creating normal WP post. If you prefer, you can compose your pages in an HTML editor and copy-paste them into the WP Split Test editor.

In other words, you have complete freedom in creating your pages. There are absolutely no restrictions imposed by the plugin. Whether you want to test small changes like different titles or different order-button colours or make completely different pages (video sales page vs. text sales page, for example), you can do it using WP Split Test.

Once you’ve created your pages, you simply grab a small code snippet and insert that into a new WordPress post. You don’t need to add anything else but that code snippet to the post. Once it’s published, the plugin will rotate the different pages for each visit to the post.

Check out this video to see the plugin in action, plus a demonstration of the setup process:

–

Tracking

Of course, just rotating page variations is only part of the equation for effective split-testing. You also need to be able to track conversion-rates so that you can determine which version of a page is the most profitable one. WP Split Test does click-tracking for your campaigns and interestingly, it tracks clicks within your page contents and also (separately) tracks clicks to your sidebar, navbar and footer contents. For your main page content, you can determine conversion rates simply by checking out the clicks you get to your affiliate link, order button or sign-up button.

Changes can be made on the fly, so if you see that one of your pages is a clear winner, you can give it more weight, deactivate all the other pages or make another minor change within seconds, from the plugin’s admin panel.

–

Overall Rating

WP Split Test is a very solid plugin. It couldn’t be easier to install and set up, it rotates pages very cleanly (I like the fact that the URL doesn’t change) and it has no negative impact on page loading times, as far as I can tell.

In my previous post about split-testing, I’ve already expressed how important testing and tracking is for any kind of online money-making venture. You absolutely must do split-testing if you are serious about your online business and if WordPress happens to be your preferred CMS, then WP Split Test is the ideal solution for you.

This is for you, if:

You like to use WordPress for your sales-pages/squeeze-pages/landing-pages

You have monetized WordPress blogs or blog-style landing pages

You are looking for a simple, easy-to-use split-testing solution

This is not for you, if:

You already have a split-testing solution in place that you are satisfied with

Split-testing, sometimes also called A/B testing, is the process of testing two or more variations of a webpage against each other in order to determine which one performs better. The goal of split testing is simply to find out how to structure your page so that you can get more clicks, more conversions, more sign-ups or whatever else may be the purpose of the site.

Read on for to learn how and what to test.

How Split Testing Works

Lets begin with a very simple example: We take a hypothetical campaign where we try to get people to sign up to a mailing-list. To run an A/B test, we create two different versions of our squeeze page, one with a blue colour-scheme and the other with a pink colour-scheme.

We will now send our traffic either to a page that serves up one version of the page or the other via some type of script or we will send the to a script that will redirect to one variation of the page or the other. There are different ways to accomplish this on a technical level, but whatever the solution, the result is that 50% of our visitors get to see the pink-themed page and 50% get to see the blue-themed page.

Now, we want to find out which version of our squeeze page gets more sign-ups. To do this, there are again several possibilities, but it always comes down to tracking the source of all our sign-ups or conversions.

Your auto-responder system will almost certainly feature some kind of tracking for this purpose. If you’re measuring click-throughs (to a sales-page or offer), you can track the conversion rates with a tracking system like Tracking202 or similar. You can also set up two separate redirects, one for each of the page-variations, but both pointing to the same sales/offer-page, to see which one of the redirects is used more often.

Again, there’s no shortage of tracking options, but it all comes down to this: Split your traffic evenly between two variations of a page and keep track of which one gets more clicks, sign-ups, sales or whatever it is you’re after.

–

What to Test

There are three basic rules to follow when doing split-testing:

Test only one variable at a time
If you change several things on a page and get better conversions as a result, you won’t know what exactly caused the increase in conversions. Was it the new font? The different headline? The new pictures? The only way to know for sure is to only change one thing at a time.
–

Test big differences first
Don’t test tiny details as they will rarely make a difference (e.g. exclamation mark vs. period in the headline). Test large, significant variations first.
–

Keep testing
Test two variations of a page against each other. When you’ve found the winner, make another variation of that page and test it again. Repeat this process until no change you can think of still produces better conversions. The worst thing you can do in online marketing is not to test. The second worst is to stop testing to early.

Here are some examples of what you can test:

Text vs. Video
Have a text-based squeeze-page and test that against one where you read the text and record a slide-show or some other type of video. You could also test video vs. video and text.
–

Long vs. Short
This goes for text as well as video: Test a long, extensive sales-page against a short one. Test a two-minute video against a 30-minute video.
–

Bullet-Points vs. Paragraphs
Write out a few paragraphs highlighting the main benefits that come with your product or offer. Then test that against a brief description and bullet-points listing the main benefits.
–

Different Incentives
Most squeeze-pages offer some type of incentive for signing up, like a free report or something along those lines. If you have more than one incentive at your disposal, test them against each other as well as one against several (remember that too many incentives can make you seem desperate). Also try giving your incentive a more compelling name and/or description.
–

Colour-Themes and Design
Test a “naked” squeeze-page against one with more graphical elements. Test different colour-schemes against each other. Even fonts and background-colours can make a difference. At the end of the day, you have to make sure that your page is visually appealing to your target demographic otherwise they’ll leave before taking a closer look at it.

Whatever you do, you should be testing your sales-pages and squeeze-pages. For a free solution to create split-tests, check out Google Website Optimizer. If you’re a WordPress user, I’ve got a very interesting for split-testing, a review of which will be published here shortly.

Now go forth, test and prosper.

Cheers,

Market research is usually concerned with the demographics of a market, the amount and kind of competition you can expect, evaluation of what type of content and delivery the target demographic responds to etc.

For this article, I want to take the market research down a notch and present you a very simple, very basic research “method” that you should be applying on a regular basis as an online marketer. Especially if you are new to this game.

Competition “Spying”

To get a feeling for a market (or even Internet marketing in general), go and take a look at websites and sales-pages created by other Internet marketers.

How do you find those pages? If you are already selling products or affiliate offers yourself, simply find some more offers in your niche and run a search on the product names as well as some closely related keywords. Especially for the product names, most of the resulting pages will be pure marketing sites. For your “typical” money-makers like “weight loss”/”how to lose weight”, “dog training”, “make money online” etc. you’ll also find lots of pure money-sites.

If you haven’t decided on a niche yourself yet, just go to ClickBank or CBtrends and search through the product catalogue there. Not that ClickBank is the only or even the most important online marketplace, but it’s the most easily accessible and you can find lots of product names and keywords to search for within minutes.

If you’re a member of some CPA networks, apply the exact same method. Search for the product/offer names as well as closely related keywords and browse some of the results.

–

What to Look Out For

As you are browsing these sites and pages, here are some things to take note of:

Types of Sites
Are you encountering many squeeze pages or sales pages? How are they set up? Is there an order-button right on the page or do they squeeze your e-mail address first? Or are you encountering blogs and blog-style pages?
–

Use of Media
What are you finding on the resulting pages? Is it mostly text, test with images, audio or video? What’s the writing style like? How is the information in the video delivered?
–

Visuals
Are the sites visually appealing? How are they making use of colours and fonts? Are they simple or graphically elaborate?
–

Incentives/Promises
What is being offered on the pages? Are there free giveaways or other incentives? What’s being promised?

Once you’ve taken note of these things, simply ask yourself: Could you do the same? Or could you even do better?

Remember that many of the people behind those pages you’re looking at are making money from them. Of course, not every offer and every sales-page is profitable, but particularly the top listed pages in organic search results are almost guaranteed to turn some kind of a profit for the site owner.

The reason I mention this is because especially those new to online marketing can easily feel overwhelmed by it all and not know where to start. If you just take a close look at what other marketers are doing, you’ll soon realize that there’s no real magic to it. Many a successful sales-page is not particularly pretty and you don’t have to be a genius to create something similar, or superior, yourself.

Allright, now go forth and research! And once you’ve researched, build!

Cheers,

I’ve already produced a fair amount of content concerning article spinning and I’ve often said that (spinning-) bots are stupid and that I’m no fan of auto-rewritten content. In light of this, it’s only fair that I give the big new player in the article spinning scene a fair review.

Can the Best Spinner live up to it’s name or is it another piece of junkware you should steer clear of? Read on to find out.

The Best Spinner is yet another article spinning tool. It’s certainly not the only one of it’s kind, but it does have some interesting features that make it stand out of the crowd. Let’s go right ahead and look at it’s main, unique selling point:

–

User Generated Database

When you load a text into the Best Spinner, you can select individual words and get a list of suggestions for synonyms you can replace these words with. Creating the spinning syntax is just a matter of clicking on all the synonyms you want to include.

Other article spinning programs have had similar features and it usually spells disaster for the readability of the spun texts. Just replacing individual words with synonyms is a guaranteed method for butchering an article. So, how does the Best Spinner attempt to solve this problem?

First of all, the database of alternatives is human-generated and human-prioritized. For any given word, the best Spinner will suggest words that other Best Spinner users have chosen as replacements in the past. And the more often a word has been chosen by users in the past, the higher up in the list it appears.

Secondly, TBS does not only offer alternatives for individual words, but also for phrases. Again, these alternatives are human-generated. It rarely offers alternatives for phrases of more than two or three words, but still: This is already a great step forward in the realm of semi-automated article spinning.

Finally, TBS is not only about having alternatives inserted automatically (otherwise the database would never grow), it’s also made sure that inserting alternatives for words, phrases or entire paragraphs is as easy and convenient as possible.

Check out this short video to see the system in action:

More Features

Apart from the basic spinning functionality, the Best Spinner has quite a few more tricks up it’s sleeve.

Nested Spinning
TBS fully supports unlimited nested spinning (spinning within spinning). This is a very important feature since nested spinning is perhaps the best way to increase uniqueness of an article while keeping it readable.
–

Replace All
For any word or phrase you are re-writing, you can tell TBS to apply the same variations to all the occurrences of that same word or phrase throughout the entire text.
–

Favourites
You can save variations for particular words as your favourites and have them replaced in new texts at the click of a button.
–

Different Spin Syntax Formats
TBS supports three different spin code styles that you can export your texts to, depending on which distribution software you want to use them with.
–

Auto Spin
TBS features something of an auto-spinning option by allowing you to have all available words replaced with the favourite variations from everyone in the database. This makes sure that only the most relevant and frequently used synonyms are chosen.
The results produced by this are remarkably readable for auto-spun content, but they’re still not something I’d want to put my name on.
–

Post to Blog
You can have your text posted to as many WordPress blogs (of your own) as you like. This way, you can make use of something like your own little article network.

–

Ratings

Spam Factor

I have yet to receive a promotional e-mail.

Scam-Scale

No upsells, no catches or disappointments inside. The product does what it says on the box and then some.

Overall Rating

There’s no doubt: The Best Spinner lives up to it’s name. It’s simply the best article spinning tool I’ve ever come across. It’s very easy to use and it makes article spinning a hundred times more convenient and faster than if you were doing it manually.
That doesn’t mean it’s a magical money-maker, however. Article spinning isn’t something that will make you rich over night. It’s simply something that can be put to good use for SEO purposes and that can be a good component in your overall marketing strategy.

But this is one of the things I really like about the Best Spinner: It doesn’t claim to be a miracle cure for everything. It claims to be an awesome article spinning tool and it delivers.

It’s so straight-forward, that the next part here might seem overly simplistic:

This is for you, if:

You are doing any kind of article spinning as part of your marketing.

This is not for you, if:

Article spinning is not part of your strategy.

Definitely give TBS a try, especially since right now, a trial for only $7 is available. Click the banner below to give it a go.

This is the first entry in a series of posts I’ll be doing about sales psychology. This won’t be a series of consecutive posts but rather a subject that I’ll post about from time to time. In the series, you’ll learn about specific techniques that can be used to increase sales and conversions. Once you’ve read about them, you’ll soon recognize them in many advertising campaigns online and off.

To start off, I want to introduce an easily exploitable psychological bias called the commitment bias.

An Extreme Example

Since you’re on the Internet, it’s quite likely that you’ve come across the great secret of the Scientology sect. They have this theory about aliens being banned to earth and then nuked and now the alien souls somehow attach themselves to humans and that’s what makes us ill. Something along those lines, anyway. If you want more detail, just Google “what scientology really believes”, there’s lots of info to be found.

The point is that this story with the alien souls and all that is completely over the top and ridiculous. It’s so silly that it begs the question: How can anyone possibly believe something like that?

Well, it’s actually not surprising at all that members of Scientology would believe this. Scientology is a hierarchical organization in which you have to “work your way up” and, more importantly, spend a lot of money if you want to “advance”.

By the time you are “ready” for the “real truth” with the aliens and all that, you’ve likely been a member for years and years, spent a lot of time in the organization, made friends and valuable connections and spent a bucketload of cash on your development.

In other words, you’ve already made a huge commitment to the organization. So huge that it’s easier to believe a completely ridiculous story than it is to admit: “I’ve been wrong all those years and I’ve wasted all that money and effort.”

Something like that can be hard to admit. And the more time, money and effort you invest, the harder it is to admit it. Consequently, you will subconsciously do your best to deny any evidence against the beliefs you’ve committed to.

This is the commitment bias in action.

–

Real Life

Okay, as the heading stated, that was an extreme example and you probably aren’t planning to build a cult (though that might be a lucrative business-model), so let’s get this closer to real life.

The commitment bias can be seen in use in many everyday situations, in a much milder way. Quite simply, the marketer wants the prospect to make some kind of a commitment (time, money or effort) towards the product or service he’s selling. This can greatly increase the chances of turning the prospect into a buyer.

Here are some examples:

Cheap Trials
Notice how many services don’t offer a free trial, but instead they offer an extremely cheap trial? Like a $1 trial or a $7 trial?
Well, the marketers behind this aren’t after that one buck. They want you to make a (tiny) commitment to the product and they want your credit card details (for a painless transition to the fully priced service). If you pay even a small amount for a trial, you are much more likely to actually use the product or service. And by using it, you are once again committing time to it and putting some effort into learning how to use it (if it’s something like a software program). You might also get in contact with other members or support staff or coaches and get to like them. Those are all small, but significant commitments that will make it much more likely you’ll opt for the full-priced service after the trial period.
–

High Price
This is a particularly simple one and it’s especially relevant for non-refundable purchases. It’s a lot easier to say “That thing I just spent five bucks on is total rubbish” that it is to say “That thing I just spent thousands of dollars on is total rubbish”, even if you’re just saying it to yourself. If you’ve spent a lot of money on something, you’ll try harder to find it’s positive aspects.
–

Participation/Interaction
Many give-away promotions require you to do something like fill out a survey or post a video or a funny picture, in order to enter the draw for the grand prize.
Again, with your participation, you’re investing yourself in the product or brand (in a small way) and this activates the commitment bias.
–

Yes-Set
Here’s an old-school one that comes from tele-marketing and face-to-face marketing. Many sales-people will try to ask you some questions that you’ll inevitably answer with a “yes” and that subtly steer you towards wanting the product. You’ll find similar tactics used in sales-copy as well.
To give a stupidly simple example, a TV sales-person might ask things like “You want to be able to relax and enjoy a really good movie from time to time, right?”, “A bigger screen with better colours is always better, isn’t it?”, “I really enjoy the booming sound-effects you get in a cinema. How about you?”.
These are all questions with obvious “yes” answers (and the sales-rep might just keep talking, leaving you to answer the questions in your head). Once he gets to the TV he wants to sell you, guess what? It has all those features! Bigger screen, better sound quality, better colours… You obviously want this, right? I mean, you said “yes” to all those questions and this here is exactly what you’re looking for. Or were you lying before?
Again, this is the commitment bias in action. Also, a good sales-rep will find better questions than I did for this example (hopefully).
–

Unskippable Sales-Videos
This is hot in Internet marketing right now. Many products are being marketed with videos that cannot be fast-forwarded and that don’t allow you to skip ahead in any way. Some don’t have any navigation at all; you can’t even pause them and you don’t know how long they’re going to last (hint: Usually, it’s very, very long).
This can be hugely annoying, but the reason this is being done has to do with the commitment bias. If you’ve just invested 45 minutes of your time watching a video and now you hear that the offer is limited and it’s going to expire any minute, you’re much more likely to buy than if you had skipped ahead after a few minutes and seen the outrageous price.

–

Bottom Line

I’m pretty sure that in your lifetime you’ve made several purchases as a direct result of the commitment bias. And I’m also pretty sure that you were unaware of it. That’s the beauty of good sales psychology: You never realize it’s happening.

Is it wrong to use such techniques to “manipulate” prospects? I don’t think so. Not in and of itself, anyway. You can go too far with manipulation, but if you don’t do any of it, you’ll never make a sale.

In my sales psychology posts, I don’t want to judge whether something is right or wrong. I simply want to show you some neat little tricks so you can be aware of them. As a consumer as well as a marketer.

That’s all for now. More mind-games will be “exposed” (what an over-used word) in future posts.

Cheers,

P.S.: I caught a pretty bad cold and have been a mess for almost a week. That’s why I didn’t post much. In case today’s post seems weird: It’s not my fault, I’m still not fully recovered.
Once I am, I’ll get to work on those reviews again.

A few days ago, Darren Rowse (Pro Blogger), Chris Brogan (Trust Agents), Sonia Simone and Brian Clark (both Copyblogger) launched a new membership site called “The Third Tribe”. You’ve probably heard of it, since it made something of a splash.

This post is not another Third Tribe rant. Others have already done that better than I ever could. If you take just one thing from this post, let it be this: Go to Griz’s Third Tribe review and read it. It makes a more than excellent case and is very much worth reading.

If you take another thing from this post, then it’s a clearer and less biased overview of Internet marketing “tribes” that follows below:

Third Tribe

First, here’s the skinny on the Third Tribe:

This product is marketed using a common marketing technique: You establish a scenario in which there is a very apparent need and then you fill that need. This is often described as “creating the market for your product”. As I’m sure you are aware, every product should have some kind of a unique selling proposition (USP) that answers the modern consumers ever-present question: “Why should I buy this instead of one of the other, similar products on offer?”

It’s not always easy to create a USP for your product, especially in saturated markets such as “make money online”. What the Third Tribe says, is: “So far, there were two tribes in Internet marketing: Slimey, dishonest and obnoxious sales-types and hippy social media types who want to be everyone’s friend and are all broke. Now, there’s the third option: Real, honest, non-obnoxious marketing that will still fill your pockets with cash!”

It’s a pretty clever setup, in my opinion. Of course, it’s dead wrong, but what can you expect from something you see on a sales-page?

–

Tribe or No Tribe?

As I’ve confessed previously, I’m a bit of an information junky and I spend more time than is reasonable on different forums, reading blogs, ebooks, books etc. about Internet marketing. It seems to me that there really are certain types or tribes of Internet marketers, all coming at this same subject from a different angle.

Below, I list the groups and types of marketers I’ve encountered online. What can you get from reading about this? You might be surprised at how many different online marketing philosophies and methods exist and you might get some new ideas and a fresh perspective.

–

The Bums

As far as I know, Travis Sago is the guy who coined the term Bum Marketing. The term simply comes from the fact that bum marketing methods all rely on free traffic sources (i.e. a bum could afford it). Many beginners in Internet marketing start out with some variation of bum marketing, relying on article directories, Squidoo/Hubpages, free blogs and classifieds to make their first few dollars.

Bum marketers also seem to have a certain affinity towards Clickbank and the Amazon affiliate program and the most successful among them tend to produce a very large volume of articles every day, often making use of article spinning to get more mileage out of their work.

Bum Marketing:
Write lots of articles, get traffic and rankings for free.

–

The SEO’s

The SEO’s are all about getting free traffic via search engines (primarily Google). There’s quite a bit of overlap between the SEO and the Bum tribes, since both swear by free traffic.

While the bum marketer mostly drives traffic to articles on article directories, the SEO drives traffic to self-hosted websites. Articles may or may not be a means towards this end. SEO’s often make use of social bookmarking, profile-links, article and video distribution, three-way link-swaps (not as kinky as it sounds) and other methods to get more and better backlinks to their highly optimized pages. They are also often engaged in heated debates among each other, since no one really knows how the Google algorithm works, but everyone has their theories.

SEO:
Keyword research, optimization and lots of link-building.

–

The Involved Marketers/Product Creators

Involved marketing (I got this term from the Smart Passive Income blog) is all about being transparent, open and honest, getting out there, getting in touch with people and building a “personal brand”. Think Gary Vaynerchuk.

Involved marketers spend a lot of time building relationships with their potential customers and are often heavily involved in social media platforms like facebook, twitter and Digg. They also tend to make more use of video than marketers of other tribes.

Since involved marketing is all about personal branding and transparency, these marketers are often also product creators. After all, once you’ve built real trust and you become recognizable and liked by the crowd in your niche, selling something made by yourself makes the most sense.

Involved Marketing:
Build relationships, create a fan-base and sell your own products and services.

–

The Traffic-Arbitrage Crowd

Why work your butt off to get pages and articles ranked in search engines and to get people to notice and like you when all you need to do is give a search engine or CPV company some money to get floods of traffic almost instantly? That’s the question that describes the Traffic Arbitrager’s take on online marketing.

These marketers have an affinity towards CPA offers and a bit of a love/hate relationship with Google, since AdWords has enormous traffic-potential but also strict rules and a twitchy trigger-finger when it comes to banning accounts.

Paying for traffic is something of a daring gamble and for everyone who hits it big-time and starts making unspeakable amounts of money in a short time, using PPC or CPV, there are hundreds who lose a lot of money and give up before they ever see a dime in return.

Marketers in the traffic-arbitrage tribe are perhaps the most technical and tend to spend more time and effort with testing, tracking and tweaking than marketers in any of the other crowds.

Traffic Arbitrage:
It’s all about the ROI. And the CTR, and the CPC, and the EPC,…

–

The Bloggers

Blogging is another thing many beginners in online marketing get into. One hears stories about people making fortunes with blogs and there are many “blogging for money” related products and, of course, blogs.

Bloggers, like involved marketers, are all about building a community and connecting with others. They leave comments on other blogs, write guest posts and do the social media thing.

Blogs can be monetized using ad-space, AdSense, promoting affiliate products in posts or as platforms for selling self-made products.

Since blogging is as public as it is, in this tribe, the vast discrepancy between the few who make it big and the thousands who struggle to make a dime is very apparent. This doesn’t necessarily mean that making money from a blog is more difficult than making money with “real” marketing, but as I’m sure you’ve gathered, I happen to believe so.

Blogging for Money:
Become Internet-famous.

–

Conclusion

People have a strong tendency to form groups and identify with them. They also have a very strong tendency to think of themselves and their own group as superior to others.

You will see that in each of the above mentioned online marketing tribes, there are people who are very firm in their belief that their way of doing things is the only “right” way or the only “real” way of making money online and that all the others are just scammers, time-wasters and/or idiots.

For this reason alone I encourage anyone to become familiar with more than one method and more than one crowd. Wherever you are involved, if you get in too deep and follow just one direction, you’re always blinding yourself to many opportunities and ideas that can be found outside of your particular tribe.

What tribe do you belong to? Or do you think this entire concept is rubbish? What about the Third Tribe, do you have a rant about that you need to get off your chest? The comments are all yours!

Cheers,

Well, by now it’s clear that LLF won’t be a weekly feature. I simply don’t find enough “worthy” posts and/or don’t spend enough time browsing the online marketing related Interwebs, to come up with enough material.

Be that as it may, I will still gather useful posts and resources and post them up on a Friday once I’ve found several.

Without further ado, here’s today’s collection:

Split Testing Calculator
This is a very simple online tool that has one purpose: To tell you whether your split-testing results are significant yet, or not. When you are split-testing and you don’t want to spend a huge amount of money to get tons of clicks, this tool can help you find the probable winner even with a relatively low number of clicks.
If you want to promote your blog by doing some blog commenting, then you’ll always welcome the CommentLuv plugin, which shows your latest blog post below your comment. Here’s a list of over 100 CommentLuv blogs, sorted by niche. Just remember to leave relevant, non-spammy comments.
–

Backlinks Explained on BloggerIllustrated
Allyn Hayne of BloggerIllustrated has changed gears recently and seems to be going in a more newbie-friendly direction. The post linked above contains several, well-made videos covering pretty much all the basics you need to know about backlinks for SEO purposes. Definitely worth checking out!
–

Who Are You Trying to Impress? on Shoemoney
Best post I’ve ever seen on Shoemoney. Shoe talks about why it doesn’t matter that he tends to get a lot of flak from other IM bloggers and the community in general. Do yourself a favour and give this a read.

And that’s all, folks. Have a great weekend!

Cheers,
