So, what’s so special about SERPAssist? Is it just another gimmick or can it truly set itself apart from other link-builders? And is it poweful enough to compete with (or even surpass) SENuke?

SERPAssist Overview

SERPAssist is a tool that automates certain aspects of link-building. This is certainly not a novelty. However, the user interface and approach used in SERPAssist are very different from what you may be used to with the typical submitters and automators out there.

You can create complete backlink networks using a simple diagram tool and then send that complete network to SERPAssist to build. To see exactly what I mean, check out this video:

SERPAssist Link-Building Features

As demonstrated in the video, the thing that sets SERPAssist apart from it’s competitors is the unique way in which the link-building is automated. You can map out an entire backlinking campaign using an easy drag-and-drop system and all of the account creation, registration, CAPTCHA solving and submission tasks are done completely automatically. It can take several days for the tasks to get completed, but since there’s no extra work on the part of the user required, that really isn’t much of a concern.

The only real work you need to do is create spun articles to post to the free blogs and embed your backlinks within. Here’s an example of a link-network that can be created with just a few minutes of work, in SERPAssist (assuming you’ve already written your spun content):

There are three types of backlinks you can build to your sites, using this tool:

• In-post links from free blogs (e.g. LiveJournal, tumblr, vox)
• Bookmark links from social bookmarking sites
• Profile links from forum profile pages

Problems…

As impressive as the technology behind all this is, there are some major issues with the software, at the time of this writing.

For example, SERPAssist apparently only submits to four different forums for profile links. That’s not exactly a wealth of link sources. And the profile links don’t show up in the URL reports, so there’s no way to check how long they stay alive. Because of this, the profile links are practically a non-feature, at this point.

Bookmarks all come from only 7 different sites and they also don’t show up in the URL report. In my eyes, this makes the bookmarks more of a neat extra than a full feature of their own. What you’re left with are the free blog posts and those also come with some limitations: On several of the blogging platforms, SERPAssist is unable to submit more than one post, meaning that you’ll have lots of new blogs with just one post and only a few “growing” blogs that have new content added to them as you keep using them to build more links.

Clearly, a blog that gets updated regularly is more valuable as a source of links than lots of single-page blogs…

So, in essence, what you get with SERPAssist is a very sophisticated tool for building link-wheels and link networks using free blogging platforms.

In my opinion, SERPAssist has the potential to become the most powerful and useful link-building tool ever, but it’s definitely not there yet.

Results

I’ve seen good results using SERPAssist in conjunction with other link-building tools and methods. Unfortunately, as long as it’s mixed in with other tools, it’s very hard to tell how much of a ranking increase can be attributed to it.

Because of this, I am currently testing how much of a ranking improvement I can get on pages that I’m promoting with SERPAssist exclusively. I will update this section of the review as soon as enough time has passed for some results (or lack thereof) to show up.

Conclusion

I’ll write a final conclusion and decide whether I can recommend SERPAssist once I’ve gathered more results.

As I was thinking abou this, I decided to make a video containing as much useful and essential information about making money online as possible, aimed at a complete beginner (basically me, a year ago). I wanted to keep it short and to the point (attention spans are short, these days), so there could only be a very limited amount of information in the video. Overview

Overall, I really like the Premium Squeeze Page Templates pack. All of the templates have a nice, high-quality look to them and the range of different styles and colors as well as the bonus graphics are excellent.

If you are looking to build your list through several channels (i.e. more than just one squeeze page and one product), then I highly recommend you take a look at this product. If you won’t be running several campaigns, then the package is a bit overkill, however the price is hard to argue with. Even just one custom designed template will cost you about the same or even more than this entire package.

The plugin does what it says on the box: It syndicates your posts, creating backlinks automatically. It does take a little time to set it up with all of the different accounts, but once that’s done, it really is a one-click solution. 1 In a Million Ecovers is a collection of Photoshop action scripts that help you create all sorts of e-cover graphics for spicing up your landing pages and making product offers more enticing.  In today’s article, I’ve added two videos: The first one shows off how the action scripts work and the second one is about what kind of an effect adding a cover image has on conversion rates.

Conclusion

As I stated in the second video, for me there’s no question about using 1 In a Million Ecovers. It allows me to create several versions of a cover graphic very quickly, that I can then use for some split-testing and website optimization.

And particularly since my tests always showed an increase in conversions from using graphics (albeit sometimes only a small one), it’s something I definitely want to include wherever possible.

SEOLinkVine is a recently launched, new article network run by Brad Callen. I have been testing this network since shortly before the official launch and by now, I have gathered enough data and gotten a good enough impression of the system for an initial review.

I am not going to go into great detail about what an article network is, if you want to know more about the basics of that, please check my blog networks post.

Alright, now let’s find out whether SEOLinkVine is worth it or not…

SEOLinkVine – Overview:

SEOLinkVine is an article network where you can submit articles including your keyword targeted backlinks to many blogs in the network. All of your articles get posted to blogs relevant to your niche and since you can choose the anchor text of the links, that should ensure that all the links you get from the system are high-quality and valuable.

SEOLinkVine Features

First, let’s cover the two most basic features for any blog network: Submitting and receiving articles.

Submitting Articles

SEOLinkVine has an editor very similar to the one you might be familiar with from a WordPress blog, where you can enter and edit your articles. Since the article will be submitted to blogs and not article directories, you can include links directly in the body text and you can even include pictures and embed video (although in my experience, the video usually remains unpublished).

You are encouraged to spin and rewrite your articles, to make sure that each published post is at least somewhat unique. There is a built in article spinning tool as well as a (useless) thesaurus that can make synonym suggestions for you.

Receiving Articles

Of course, you can also “plug in” your own blogs into the network and start receiving content from SEOLinkVine users. Depending on how you make use of it, getting a constant stream of fresh content can be very beneficial to your own sites – at least, if the content is any good.

In this regard, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the articles I’ve received from SEOLinkVine. Let me be realistic, here: The articles are never stellar (they are written for the links, not for Pulitzer prizes) and there are always a few bad apples in there. I have received some examples of articles that were spun to the point of illegibility. But most of the articles I’ve received were quite good.

What I really like about the “get articles” bit in SEOLV is that you can view and accept or reject articles directly from within SEOLinkVine. This means that you don’t have to log into each one of your sites to check the posts, you can conveniently do it all from one interface.

Stats

SEOLinkVine has some very interesting stats-checking features, as well. You can get an overview as well as a graphical representation of how many of your articles have been presented to site owners, how many have been accepted and rejected, how many have been published and how many are still pending.

Even more interestingly, it comes with a rank-tracking application. All you have to do is install a small program that runs in the background (Windows only, at the time of writing) and periodically checks your ranking. For this purpose it simply uses the links from your articles and check where the linked-to site ranks for the anchor-text keyword.

The program goes 500 results deep in Google and Yahoo and about 100 results deep in Bing.

As I’ve mentioned several times on this site, I believe that a good rank-tracking application is absolutely essential for SEO marketers. You have to have an easy way to track the progression of your pages in the SERP and see how your link-building is affecting them. The rank tracking tool in SEOLV is very simple and requires practically no user-input, but it’s still a solid tool that delivers clear information. Clear thumbs up from me, as this is truly an extra bonus that no one would even expect to get, bundled with a blog-network membership!

Is it Any Good?

Of course, the extra features and slick user interface are nice, but the most important question about any blog network is: Is it any good? Do my articles get published, does the system work, do I get a good amount of high-quality backlinks?

The answer is: Yes, it is good and it’s a solid system that works. There was a bit of a glitch during the first few days after launch, where they were apparently having trouble getting all the queued up articles published, however, even then I saw a steady stream of publishes and daily backlinks to all sites I  was promoting through SEOLinkVine.

Let’s look at some exact numbers:

Currently, I am averaging 55.8 publishes per article submitted. That’s pretty good, especially considering that the articles are all still being published to new blogs and the publishes per article have steadily been climbing. Also, some of the publishes are still in a “pending” status, meaning some site-owners have not taken a look at the articles yet, to decide whether to approve or reject them. If my approval-rate stays constant, this will result in about 60 publishes per article over the course of a few weeks. Not too bad.

Does it work for getting your sites ranked? Let me show you two examples, using the SEOLV rank tracker.

This first one is on a site that I’ve already done lots a fair amount of backlinking for, but the particular page I’m promoting has only been getting links from SEOLV, no other sources:

As you can see, there’s a distinct improvement in ranking, more or less from day one of using the system. (Update: The above page has now reached position number 3 in the SERP).

Here’s another one, which is for a brand new site that, as of yet, has absolutely no on-page optimization for the targeted keyword:

We’re definitely looking at some heavy Google dancing, here, but the indications are good. The dance will probably go on for a while longer, but once I actually set up the target page with on-page SEO, I’m pretty sure I’ll stick to page one. (Update: This page is now in position number 6 and has stayed there for several weeks. I haven’t done any link-building beyond submitting two articles to SEOLV, for this site).

SEOLinkVine was closed for a while and Brad Callen and his team spent some time improving the system and upgrading the blog network. It’s now open again and I can still fully recommend it. Now more than before, in fact.

Case in point: The new Product Launch Formula videos by Jeff Walker.

Okay, I guess I know where this is coming from. It’s the same with the launches in general. Why does every marketer use the same kind of pre-launch process, the same kind of build-up, the same kind of hype generation? Because it works…

And I guess that type of video also works. But does that really mean that every marketer has to go and make a carbon copy of the Video Boss videos? Same style, same background music, same fonts, same colors and even the same text-animations? Seriously, you can’t select a different animation effect?

Apart from anything else, I bet that almost no one has actually tested the Video Boss type video against a different type of video. Video is a b***h to split-test, after all. Let me just say that I’ve been running a few tests with different video types and I’ve found some pretty surprising results.

I think that Internet marketers who market to the Internet marketing crowd have to start thinking on their feet a bit more and start innovating more quickly. You see, outside of the IM market, you can go ahead and use all of those tactics and techniques you know inside out. Use free ebooks as sign-up incentives, do the product launch formula, use Video Boss videos, use fake time-constraints, have one-time-offers that aren’t really one-time-offers and claim that the price is about to go up “any minute now”. Outside of the IM market, people haven’t all seen this stuff a million times before.

But if you’re marketing to online marketers, start thinking outside the box and be the guy who comes up with the next formula rather than always relying on methods that everyone got fed up with last week.

And seriously, consider using a different text-animation, if nothing else.
